If you or someone you love is turning 65 soon — listen up. The government recently made big changes to the Medicare application process to help protect your identity.

The Good News:
They’ve added extra steps to stop scammers and keep your personal information safe. You now have to show a photo ID, like your driver’s license or passport, to prove it’s really you.

The Bad News:
It’s gotten more confusing — and we’re seeing a lot of people hit roadblocks. So far, around 30 to 50% of people can’t get verified properly online, even when they do everything right.

When that happens, you may have to schedule a phone appointment or visit the Social Security office. Right now, those appointments are taking 6 to 10 weeks, which can delay your Medicare coverage.

The good news? We help people through this process every day, and we’ll do everything we can to make it easier. But some of these delays are beyond our control, so it’s important to get started early.

Here’s How to Apply for Medicare Now:

Option 1: Sign up online at ssa.gov/medicare
Create an account, upload a photo of your ID, and follow the steps.

Option 2: Call Social Security to schedule a phone appointment
Just be prepared — wait times are long, sometimes 6 to 10 weeks.

Option 3: Let us help — for free
We’ll walk you through the entire process, step by step, right here in our office. No charge, no hassle.

Our Best Advice:
Social Security recommends applying at least 3 months before your 65th birthday — and with the current delays, we strongly agree.

We’ll do everything we can to help you apply quickly, but with so many people struggling to get verified online, it’s best to plan ahead. Even with our help, some situations still require follow-ups or extra steps — but we’ll guide you through all of it.

We know the process can be frustrating, but we’re confident it will improve as the system is refined. In the meantime, we’re here to make things as simple and stress-free as possible.

The Bottom Line: You Don’t Have to Struggle Through This Alone
